Asian Tropics

Denver Zoo, Denver, CO

ImageDenver Zoo’s envisioned Asian Tropics exhibit features a diverse array of fascinating animals, many of which are highly endangered. Zoo visitors will explore the 10-acre complex and be exposed to the rich history of animals in Asian culture, their complex relationship with humans and the efforts by Denver Zoo and its partners around the world to protect their futures. Asian Tropics will be the first facility in the country able to house a significant group of bull elephants as part of a global effort to create a sustainable population of elephants. Long-term, Asian Tropics will allow Denver Zoo to become an important Asian elephant breeding center. CCS is proud to have partnered with Denver Zoo to assess the progress of the campaign to build Asian Tropics and to have aided in the development and sharpening of key campaign strategies. To date, more than $40 million has been secured of the total $50 million goal.

Penobscot River Restoration Trust

The Penobscot River Restoration Project is among the largest, most creative river restoration projects in our nation’s history. The Penobscot Indian Nation, energy company PPL Corporation, seven conservation groups, state and federal agencies, and other partners are working together to restore 11 species of sea-run fish to the Penobscot River, the second largest in New England, while maintaining hydropower production. Successfully implemented, the Penobscot Project will reconnect the river to the sea, revitalizing fisheries, wildlife, culture, recreation, and the economy tied to Maine’s largest watershed.

CCS is proud to have assisted the Penobscot Trust and its partners achieve their initial campaign goal of $10,000,000 in private funds. These key funds, along with $15,000,000 in federal funds, enabled critical steps toward the completion of this historic, nationally recognized project.

Henry's Fork Forever: Fish, Land, Water, People Campaign

The Henry’s Fork Foundation, Ashton, ID

ImageThe Henry’s Fork Foundation has worked for 25 years to conserve, restore, and protect the unique fishery, wildlife, and aesthetic qualities of the Henry’s Fork watershed. The $3.5 million Henry's Fork Forever: Fish, Land, Water, People campaign will support important on-the-ground projects as well as seed an endowment that will ensure the Henry’s Fork Foundation remains an advocate for one of the most biodiverse and vulnerable ecosystems in the United States. CCS celebrates its partnership with Henry’s Fork Foundation and the successful planning, organization, and launch of the largest campaign in the Foundation’s 25-year history.

A Sense Of Place — Campaign For The West Branch

Forest Society of Maine, Bangor, ME

Amnesty International USAForest Society of Maine (FSM) is a statewide land trust dedicated to working in partnership with landowners to conserve the many values of Maine's forestland. FSM recently announced the successful completion of the $35 million West Branch Campaign and the permanent conservation of 329,000 acres in Maine's Northern Forest. This momentous achievement — the largest contiguous tract ever conserved in Maine — is a combination of 47,000 acres of land purchased for the people of Maine, and a 282,000-acre conservation easement that ensures sustainable forestry, ecological protections, and traditional recreational access for generations to come. CCS is proud to have served the Forest Society of Maine as the campaign manager of the West Branch Campaign and to celebrate FSM's ongoing efforts to ensure the enduring stewardship of the West Branch legacy.

The Campaign For Connecticut: Saving Our Last Great Places

The Nature Conservancy Connecticut Chapter, Middletown, CT

Lion's Clubs International The Campaign for Connecticut was launched in 2000 to support a dramatic expansion in the Chapter’s conservation efforts in critical areas across the state. These landscapes, which are especially vulnerable to threats like incompatible development, include the Saugatuck Forest Landscape in Fairfield County and the Tidelands of the Connecticut River. The campaign raised more than $48,000,000 on its $46,000,000 goal. 

Katahdin Lake Campaign

The Trust for Public Land, Portland, ME

The Trust for Public Land (TPL) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving land for people. Since 1972, TPL has partnered with willing landowners, community groups, and government agencies to complete more than 3,000 land conservation projects in 46 states. CCS is proud to have served TPL and their project partners, the Maine Department of Conservation and the Baxter State Park Authority, who recently celebrated the successful completion of the Katahdin Lake Campaign. This historic effort surpassed a $14 million fund-raising goal and permanently conserved more than 6,000 acres including old growth forests and miles of pristine shoreline surrounding Katahdin Lake. Inspired by the incomparable vision and generosity of the park's founding benefactor, Governor Percival P. Baxter, the Katahdin Lake Campaign engaged the philanthropic support of more than 1,200 private donors. On May 15, 2007, Baxter State Park welcomed the first of their nearly 100,000 annual guests to experience the peaceful splendor of Katahdin Lake.

AMC's 125 Anniversary Capital Campaign Connecting Active People To Special Place

Appalachian Mountain Club, Boston, MA

The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) raised more than $30,000,000 to expand its recreation, conservation, and educational programs over the next ten years. With CCS’s direction, the Anniversary capital campaign will allow AMC to meet all of their needs and engage their 90,000 members in this historic campaign.

Friends Of The National Zoo

Friends of the National Zoo, Washington, D.C.

Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) is a conservation, education, and membership organization that supports the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C. FONZ has launched a capital and endowment campaign to underwrite the costs associated with bringing two giant pandas from China and constructing a new Giant Panda Habitat and a Conservation Learning Center. CCS designed a campaign plan, which helped FONZ to raise $38 million to support these efforts to further enhance the National Zoo's reputation as a world leader in animal exhibition, scientific research, and education conservation.

Campaign For The Coast

Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Topsham, ME

Maine Coast Heritage Trust works to conserve coastal and other lands that define Maine’s distance landscape, protect its environment, sustain its outdoor traditions, and promote the well being of its people. The Trust maintains a focus on imperiled coastal lands, and also provides its expertise for inland projects of national significance that help to preserve the character of Maine. Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Campaign for the Coast exceeded its goal, raising more than $100,000,000 to accelerate land conservation on Maine’s coast. Campaign for the Coast is the largest land conservation capital campaign in Maine’s history.

For Maine — Forever

The Nature Conservancy Maine Chapter, Brunswick, ME

As part of the world's leading private, international conservation group, the Maine Chapter of The Nature Conservancy has protected over 280,000 acres of Maine's finest natural lands. As part of a $1 billion national campaign, the Maine Chapter raised over $45 million. CCS is also working with The Nature Conservancy on their respective campaign initiatives.

A Legacy Of Landscapes: The Campaign To Save The Last Great Places In Massachusetts

The Nature Conservancy Massachusetts Chapter, Boston, MA

The Massachusetts Chapter’s Legacy of Landscapes campaign began as an effort to raise $30,000,000 to protect land of high ecological significance in Massachusetts. Priority fund-raising sites included the Southern Berkshires, the Westfield River Watershed, the Massachusetts Islands (Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket), and the Plymouth/Cape Cod area. Due to the extraordinary generosity of supporters throughout the state, the campaign raised over $61,000,000 in eighteen months. An exceptional effort on the part of board members and volunteers made this campaign a strong success and the funds raised are helping the Massachusetts Chapter to dramatically step up critical conservation efforts.

Saving The Last Great Place In Michigan

The Nature Conservancy Michigan Chapter, Lansing, MI

The Nature Conservancy in Michigan recently completed the largest public-private conservation agreement in the state's history. This incomparable deal protects 271,000 acres of pristine forest, water and shoreline, while connecting more than two million acres of previously protected lands stretching across the entire Upper Peninsula. Inspired by this monumental project, The Nature Conservancy launched and successfully completed a monumental $78 million campaign to implement unprecedented levels of conservation throughout the state. CCS is proud to have assisted The Nature Conservancy in reaching historic fundraising success -- the results of which are allowing for the continued protection of Michigan's priority forest, water, and shoreline sites; identification and management the daunting threats to the landscape; and stewardship the land, investing in the long-term vitality of the last great places in Michigan.
