NJSO-Main-smallThe New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) was founded in 1922 as an amateur orchestra and, in 1968, became fully professional under the leadership of Henry Lewis—the first African-American Music Director of a major American symphony orchestra. The Orchestra has collaborated with many internationally renowned artists to present a countless number of unforgettable performances. In 2009, Jacques Lacombe was named the 13th Music Director of the NJSO. Building on a remarkable tradition of presenting more than 200 performances annually, the NJSO brings live music to more than 250,000 people each year. In 2008, CCS conducted a feasibility and strategic planning study for the NJSO and has since provided counsel and campaign management for its $32 million comprehensive campaign,An Incomparable Sound. A Cultural Treasure.
