Founded in 1864, The Peddie School (Peddie), a co-educational boarding and day school, serves students in grades 9-12 and postgraduates. Peddie engaged CCS to provide campaign planning and management support, and the One Peddie Campaign exceeded its $80M goal, raising $106M.

  • Ambassador Walter Annenberg made an unprecedented $100 million gift to Peddie in 1993. Through an Assessment and Planning Study in 2017, CCS helped Peddie reevaluate its ability to conduct a campaign on a similar scale.
  • CCS determined Peddie was ready to embark on a significant campaign and helped Peddie focus on engagement while educating the community about the campaign’s philanthropic impact, building Peddie’s culture of philanthropy for the future.
  • One Peddie has been the most ambitious fundraising effort in Peddie’s history. The campaign concluded with $106 million secured.

Natalie, Bo, and the CCS team are very talented, organized, and professional, and most of all, they are flexible, fun, and fully engaged. As first-time co-chairs for the One Peddie campaign, they taught us best practices while personalizing our campaign to the Peddie culture as we requested. They kept schedules tight, came to campus often, and jumped on calls whenever we needed.

THE background

Prior Peddie campaigns were built upon a few large donors, but One Peddie was the opportunity to engage the full community in a historic campaign. Peddie set an initial goal of $80 million, with the aspiration to do as a community what one man did 30 years ago—invest $100 million into Peddie’s future.

THE SOLUTION

CCS conducted an assessment and feasibility study to lay the framework for this transformational campaign. We helped the school recruit strong campaign leadership and volunteers to engage alumni and families and invite campaign support. Peddie successfully made the case for endowment giving as well as planned gifts, with approximately 30% of funds raised coming from planned gifts. It has built a stronger culture of engagement in philanthropy to lasting effect.

While some consultants offer you a lead person at the outset but give you a different team to work with throughout the campaign, CCS offered us their best leaders from start to finish, and this partnership was a key part of One Peddie’s success.

THE impact

With participation from over 4,600 alumni, parents, students, trustees, and faculty and staff, donors are raising the bar for campaign support at The Peddie School. Peddie has not only surpassed its initial campaign goal of $80 million but raised a total of $106 million. Funds raised through One Peddie will go toward the school’s endowment, financial aid, faculty, and programs, as well as provide capital support for the arts and athletics.

Featured Team Member

It was an honor to be a part of the One Peddie campaign, and to watch the team, leadership, board, and campaign volunteers engage alumni and families in a way that had never been done before. It is thrilling to see Peddie surpass $100 million raised on its $80 million campaign goal, and I look forward to seeing Peddie soar to even new heights in the future.
