The Full Story
Frederic J. “Rick” Happy, Chair, joined CCS in 1986 with plans to gain business experience before heading to law school. That initial plan quickly evolved into a lifelong commitment to philanthropy. Four decades later, Rick has become a trusted adviser to mission-driven organizations across the country and abroad, guiding them through complex campaigns and transformational initiatives.
Rick is known for his thoughtful, analytical approach and his genuine enthusiasm for the work. “I’ve attended many groundbreakings, ceremonies, and campaign events throughout my career,” Rick shares, “and they always remind me how gratifying it is to know we’ve helped our clients and friends achieve their success.”
Rick’s leadership extends beyond CCS. He has served on the Board of the Giving Institute and remains actively engaged in the philanthropic community. He earned his BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and lives in San Francisco’s East Bay with his wife, Kate. They have three adult children. Outside of work, Rick enjoys the arts, supports education initiatives, and is especially passionate about advancing healthcare philanthropy.
At CCS we help organizations elevate, examine, analyze, and accelerate their philanthropy.
