Alma mater to more than 225,000 alumni, Northeastern faced challenges to grow, focus, and deploy appropriately for its first comprehensive, university-wide campaign.

THE SOLUTION

CCS worked with Northeastern over three years in various capacities, including conducting a planning study to assist the university in preparing for its $500 million comprehensive campaign called “Empower;” providing interim development leadership to Northeastern’s College of Engineering; conducting a development assessment for the College of Science; and delivering a pre-public launch campaign assessment with prospect identification, predictive modeling, and portfolio balancing.

CCS’s multi-phase engagement at Northeastern created proper precedence for success and momentum during the “Empower Campaign’s” silent phase, including a joint commitment of $60 Million that co-named its College of Business (the university’s largest commitment to date). CCS also assisted in appropriately rebalancing portfolios and refining tactics and staff-deployment across nine colleges in anticipation of the campaign’s public launch.

THE IMPACT

With proper ingredients for success in place, Northeastern reached its initial campaign goal ahead of schedule and has since increased its goal by 25 percent.
