Overview

CCS is partnering with Sarasota Orchestra to raise approximately $400 million for the first world-class acoustic concert hall on Florida’s West Coast.

Key Elements

Sarasota Orchestra engaged CCS to create a highly ambitious, yet achievable fundraising plan after the Music Center’s feasibility study was conducted by another firm.
CCS designed and implemented a roadmap for their first-ever major fundraising initiative, using donor analytics to identify a clear path to goal, while also inspiring confidence among the board of directors to launch a landmark campaign.
Over the past year, Sarasota Orchestra has announced several transformational philanthropic commitments to the new Music Center, including $60 million and $10 million gifts.

“After completing our fundraising feasibility study, we recognized the need for an immersed partner with the expertise and capacity to help us launch a campaign of this scale. CCS Fundraising quickly proved to be the right fit—integrating seamlessly into our team and culture, while providing the guidance, tools, and conviction we needed to move forward strategically and rapidly. Their partnership has been instrumental in shaping a campaign that reflects our vision, inspires our donors, and differentiates our project from other fundraising initiatives in our community.”

The Background

Sarasota Orchestra, the oldest continually operating orchestra in Florida, stands as a cultural pillar in a region celebrated for its vibrant arts scene. Launching the most ambitious initiative in its 75-year history, the Orchestra is pursuing a visionary goal to build the first purpose-built acoustic concert hall on Florida’s West Coast. This once-in-a-generation cultural initiative will enrich the region’s musical landscape and stands as a transformative investment in the enduring power of music, education, and shared community spaces.

Client Challenge

CCS was brought in to serve as both expert counsel and an integrated extension of the team, helping to turn vision into action with a roadmap grounded in trust, strategy, and inspiration. After another firm conducted their feasibility study, Sarasota Orchestra  reached a critical inflection point—seeking the right partners to ignite swift momentum toward its bold goal of raising $375 to $425 million through private philanthropy.

CCS Solution

CCS accelerated the creation of a strategic roadmap that provided a clear path to their goal, prioritized donor engagement strategies, and aligned leadership and staff around a unified vision. The result was a surge of confidence across the organization, as the team felt energized by a fundraising plan that transformed a courageous idea into achievable milestones.

Within six months of launching a plan unanimously endorsed by the board of directors, Sarasota Orchestra publicly announced transformational gifts of $60 million and $10 million, and doubled their capital donors supporting the Music Center project, while increasing their annual fund by nearly 10% from the previous year.

CCS also developed a suite of compelling donor-facing materials that both communicated urgency and inspired alignment with the financial benchmarks of the construction timeline. Regarding internal capacity support, CCS created a strategic hiring plan and implemented trusted systems to ensure the team not only reached today’s ambitious fundraising goals but also safeguarded its long-term vision to sustain an iconic performance venue well into the future.

“With CCS by our side, we’ve been able to elevate our bold vision into an active, transformational campaign that reflects the full potential of our Orchestra and our Sarasota community. Their team brought deep fundraising expertise, combined with a spirit of collaboration, that energized our staff and board to dream bigger and reach higher. Thanks to CCS, we are moving forward with greater confidence, clarity, and momentum.”

In partnership with CCS, Sarasota Orchestra is strengthening its internal capacity, strategic clarity, and best-in-class donor engagement tactics to confidently pursue one of the most ambitious cultural campaigns in the region’s history. This fundraising roadmap has already sparked transformational leadership gifts and is laying the foundation for a world-renowned Music Center, demonstrating the extraordinary impact that’s possible when a cultural institution brings philanthropic leaders together to champion the next chapter of a community treasure.
