New Challenges--New SolutionsAmerican Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, Alexandria, VA American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) is an organization of physicians, biomedical scientists, surgeons and health professionals with an interest in the liver and its diseases. AASLD awards and fellowships have sponsored and encouraged highly trained physician scientists and healthcare professionals who are transforming liver disease from a terminal to treatable (and ultimately, preventable) condition. Faced with declining industry and government support for research and training, AASLD leaders recognized the need to shore up their own funding to support hepatologists and young investigators. The New Challenges--New Solutions campaign sought to raise $5,000,000 to support research and educational initiatives for the hepatology field, providing funds for AASLD’s Research and Career Development Awards, Advanced Transplant Hepatology Fellowships, and Single Topic Conferences. CCS was proud to serve as fund-raising counsel and to assist AASLD in raising $6,030,000 to be invested in innovative research and emerging liver scholars. The campaign secured one gift of $2,000,000+; two gifts of $1,000,000; and six gifts of $100,000 or more. The campaign was transformative by securing significant gifts from all constituencies; cultivating a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization culminating with AASLD hiring its first director of development and the formation of a Board development committee. www.aasld.org |

To fulfill the promise of ACRIN® and accomplish new goals, ACR established The ACRIN Fund for Imaging Innovation. This campaign – the first of its kind for ACR – seeks to raise monies for the ACRIN® Fund by reaching out to corporations, foundations, and individual members for philanthropic support. Although the campaign is still underway, ACR has already exceeded its $5,000,000 goal. More significant gifts are expected as others are invited to participate in the ground-breaking work of ACRIN®.
