  • The Crocker Art Museum wanted to add three times more gallery space.
  • CCS provided the full range of strategic fundraising services which resulted in the museum raising over $100 million.

How We Helped

The Challenge

The original Victorian building that Margaret E. Crocker presented to the city of Sacramento in May 1885 has undergone numerous changes over the years, but none so dramatic as this three-year project that visitors see now. In response to growing popularity and the desire to increase the museum’s opportunity to exhibit major traveling shows, The Crocker Art Museum wanted to add three times more gallery space dedicated to the viewing of the museum’s renowned permanent collection, as well quadruple the temporary gallery space.

The Solution

CCS provided the full range of strategic fundraising services which resulted in the museum raising over $100 million for the historic expansion, enhancing its ability to serve Sacramento and the region’s many visitors.

The Impact

For the first time in the museum’s history, there are dedicated gallery spaces for all collection areas. The museum is now a vibrant cultural hub of the region, a defining symbol of arts education, and an architectural icon for Sacramento and the State of California. One year after the expansion was opened to the public, the museum saw record numbers in attendance and successfully brought the past and the present together in one work of architectural art.
