The Challenge
For decades, eradicating polio has been a rallying cry for Rotarians all over the world. Rotary International is a partner with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the Centers for Disease Control in providing a vaccine to eradicate this crippling disease. With 22,000 clubs across 161 countries, a multi-tiered volunteer structure spanning the globe and a cohesive plan were required to raise the necessary funds.
The Solution
CCS conducted a planning study to help The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International take the first step toward raising the funds to eradicate polio. The PolioPlus campaign raised more than $247 million on a $120 million goal.
More recently, CCS partnered again with The Rotary Foundation to conduct a fundraising assessment that included a review of the role and utilization of the global Rotary volunteer structure, a review of the fund development staffing structure, major gift prospect identification, and strategic planning to help the foundation strengthen and accelerate fundraising.
The Impact
Rotary has helped reduce polio cases by 99.9% since 1979, and continues to work toward eradication.
